9/12- Today we talked about 9/11 and why it is important to remember this day. I introduced them to the Day of Caring as a way to remember 9/11. Here at SMS we are collecting school supplies for the Day of Caring, to share with students that have been able to purchase theirs. We watched a short video of the timeline of 9/11/01 and did a gallery walk where students wrote down their reactions. After we worked on our economics vocabulary.
9/9- Today we began our economic unit. Vocabulary words: Allocate, Scarce, Resources, Goods, Services, Barter, Capitalism, Communism, Profit, Supply, Demand. Students will use their vocabulary template to help understand these words.
9/8- Today we will go to the library to begin research on a country for our year-long world cultures project.
9/7- Today we will wrap up our stations activity and decide on our class expectations, go over how to improve our growth mindset and go over some things that we will work on in social studies this year.
9/6- Welcome Back! Today in Social Studies I will introduce you to my room, talk about safety information and we will begin to work on a First Day stations activity. This activity has 6 parts, goal setting, growth mindset quiz, establishing expectations, reading my intro letter and responding, paper crane origami and a get to know your classmates quiz.
